Three young parents were killed in a horrific road accident after their car swerved into a roundabout at 85 miles per hour, an investigation said today.
Alex Ford, 28, Scott Simpson, 28, and Jay McEvoy, 33, were traveling together when Mr. Simpson, who was driving, lost control of his BMW rental car on East Prescott Road in Knotty Ash, at an intersection with Blackmoor Drive.
Miss Ford and Mr Simpson went to the Deysbrook pub in the West Derby on April 25 and met friends where they had drinks together, the Liverpool Coroner Court was told.

Forensic officer Jacqueline Gallagher said Miss Ford, Mr Simpson and Mr McEvoy left at 11:30 pm and got into the rental car, Liverpool Echo reports.
CCTV showed Mr. Simpson as the driver, online retail assistant Miss Ford, the front seat passenger, and employer Mr. McEvoy the back seat passenger.
The court heard the car was seen traveling east Prescott “at excessive speed” before hitting a brick wall structure at the roundabout and a lamppost.
Ms Gallagher said the force of the collision caused the car to “stop and spin” before it fell back onto the road, and McEvoy was ejected from the BMW.
Smoke began pouring from the hood and a fire broke out quickly before members of the public passed and police officers arrived at the scene.

Mr. McEvoy, of West Derby, was moved to a safe area away from the vehicle and CPR began before officers rescued Mr. Simpson and Miss Ford from the burning BMW.
The three people were taken to different hospitals but later died.
Simpson’s cause of death was recorded as head injuries, Miss Ford’s head injury and McEvoy’s head and chest injuries.
Toxicology tests showed that the driver, Mr. Simpson, of West Derby, had twice exceeded the beverage limit and had cannabis in his system, while Miss Ford, of Old Swan, had cannabis in her body and Mr McEvoy had hashish and cocaine.
Sgt. Amy Murray, who was Merseyside Police’s chief investigative officer, said in the investigation that the BMW was traveling at 85 mph at the point of impact on the 40 mph highway.
She agreed with the statements made to her by coroner Andre Rebelo who said: “Fortunately, no one outside the car was hurt, and it appeared that the driver was going too fast and drove straight into the roundabout.
“The three may have lost consciousness on impact and knew nothing of the injuries they sustained.”
Mr. Rebello recorded road traffic collision findings for all three.

He told family members in the Kirkdale courtroom: “There will be generations to come who will have to remember them as people.
“You had love affairs to celebrate and remember.”
The three who died had young children, and in the weeks following the tragedy, relatives sent heartfelt greetings to their loved ones.
The McEvoy family said: “James lived his life as a happy man.
“He always walked in with a smile on his face and actively encouraged the smile of others.
“James holds a very special place in our hearts and will forever be.
“He is a father, a son, a brother, a grandson, an uncle, a cousin and a nephew, but most importantly, a constant friend.”
