Morning summary for Friday, August 20.
Four players absent from Liverpool training
Liverpool continued their preparations for Saturday’s game against Burnley on Thursday at their training base in Kirkby, but there were four notable absentees.
Midfield duo James Milner and Fabinho, who both played in the Reds’ 3-0 win over Norwich last week, were not featured as manager Jurgen Klopp put his players in their stride.
Although it is understood their absence is not a major concern for Liverpool.
Xherdan Shaqiri and Ben Woodburn are also absent as both have been linked with a move away from Anfield in recent weeks.
Shaqiri is the subject of interest from French club Lyon, who made an offer for the Swiss international early last week, but it was far from the price Liverpool were asking.

Another fan tweeted: “Despite being 32, this is a player who can play for a few seasons for sure. Goals guaranteed. Makes a huge difference to the team. How much money can they raise?”
Lewandowski is a player Klopp already knew while working with the Poland international during his time at Borussia Dortmund.
He is a player Bayern are eager to keep, reportedly putting £110m for the 32-year-old, who scored 41 league goals in 29 appearances last season.
