A police officer and a member of the public rescued a passenger who collapsed on the rails at a New York subway station moments before the train arrived.
Video of the accident from a passerby shows the man lying face down at the station in the Bronx area of the city, while others on the platform call for help.
An NYPD officer was then seen climbing onto the rails and trying to wake the injured passenger.
Meanwhile, panicked people on the platform were heard chanting “Hurry up” and “Slow down the train.”
A passerby can then be seen climbing the rails before helping the officer pick up the man and pull him to safety.
They cheer and clap as the lifeguards manage to lift themselves onto the platform – a few seconds before seeing a train pull into the station.
A statement from the NYPD along with the footage praised both the officer and the member of the public who helped.
She said, “NYPD cops help New Yorkers at any cost!
“When a sick belt hanger lost consciousness and fell on subway tracks in the Bronx, NYPDTransit officers did not hesitate for a moment to put his safety first.
“We are also grateful to the good Samaritan who courageously helped.”
