M6 Galway crash: Four dead after three-car crash

Four people have died after a three-car crash in Galway.

The accident occurred on the M6 ​​motorway near Junction 15 in Ballinasloe at about 7.40pm on Thursday.

It was announced that four people were killed at the scene, and the place remained closed for a technical examination.

Garday urged people to avoid the area with roads closed in both directions.

A spokesperson said: “Garday is investigating a fatal three-vehicle road traffic collision that occurred at approximately 7:40 pm on Thursday, August 19, 2021, on the M6 ​​motorway in Bullboy, Ballinslow, County Galway.

“Four people were declared dead at the scene and their bodies were taken to Portioncola Hospital, Palinslow, for post-mortem examinations at a later time.

“The M6 ​​in both directions between Junction 14 and 15 is currently closed and forensic collision investigators are examining the scene. Local diversions have been implemented.

Gardy appeals to any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Gardaí is also appealing to any road user who may have cam footage (including dash-cam) and were traveling on the M6 ​​in Poolboy, Ballinasloe, at the time to make this footage available to Gardaí.
