Love Island: Jake and Liberty come to a decision at first sight

It was reported earlier on Friday that Jake Cornish and Liberty Bull have pulled out of Love Island 2021, and have already left the villa.

The couple is believed to be being looked after in Mallorca, having decided to leave the series just days before the final after a split.

The longest-running couple in the 2021 series recalled time in their romance during Thursday’s episode, as Liberty begins to cry over recent events.

Liberty told Jake that she didn’t think they were right for each other, and that she felt as though he didn’t love her for what she was.

Jake seemed puzzled by his girlfriend’s confession, having been with her since day one with things going smoothly for most of the time.

But in the past few weeks, little things have left Liberty questioning Jake’s affection for her – and the other girls in the villa are also unsure.

Despite denying her claims Thursday night, Friday’s episode will see Jake admit that he feels as though they’ve lost their affection for each other.

Both confirmed their separation again before returning to the villa after a date, to make a big announcement to their fellow islanders.

It is now reported that both Liberty and Jake have quit the show permanently, forfeiting the final award and cash.

The first look clip appears to show the moment they tell their friends of their decision to go, as the ex-couple and their friends are seen crying and panting.

“We just came to the conclusion that it’s clear that at this point in time, it’s best for us to go our separate ways,” Liberty says.

Jake adds, “Right now, our heads are just…yeah…” with Liberty saying, “We’re just not getting ahead.”

The rest of the clip doesn’t include any words from them or anyone else, and heads off to the entire group who are seen sobbing at what they heard.

This is believed to be the moment when the pair confirm their plans to leave the show in the emotional scenes to air on Friday.

A source told MailOnline: “It was a really tough decision for the couple, but it seemed like the right thing to do.

“They gave everything they had in front of the camera and wanted to let their friends in other couples get a chance to win.

“It was a sentimental farewell to all the islanders, who became very close, like family, but it wouldn’t be long before they were all reunited.

“It’s not 100 percent over for Jake and Liberty, there’s still a lot of emotion left, so who knows what’s going to happen in the future.”

Love Island is broadcast every night at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub.
