Will Aaron Ramsdale, Arsenal’s No. 1 goalkeeper this season, be ahead of Bernd Leno? Comment below

“This is for the sake of achieving it and for it to stay ahead of me. A healthy competition will be good for the group and I hope to bring something different to the goalkeeping department, as well as the team.

“We all have different qualities, so we hope to blend together as a team.”

Aaron Ramsdale explains the ‘difficult’ Arsenal transfer story After ‘whispers’ at Euro 2020, Aaron Ramsdale sent a message to Arsenal fans after sealing the transfer deal

Ramsdale believes he is ‘old’ on the shoulders of a young woman given his rich Premier League experience under his belt at Sheffield United and Bournemouth.

He said: “I have learned to grow mentally and as a person off the field. I think I have a big head for a 23-year-old and some people say goalkeepers don’t play much at the time they are 23, but that is clearly on my side.

“I’ve learned how to play in different ways. A long ball, from the back and I mix it up, so there are brackets on my shelf that I add every time and I hope to keep doing that here.”

When asked about his strengths, Ramsdale added, “I put my heart on my sleeve, and I leave it all there. It’s a classic way of looking at it, but I have a lot of passion and pride.”

“The way I play is I can play for a long time, play very comfortable, I can mix up passing in midfield, and hopefully that’s something I can add to the team.

“I’m not afraid to last long if necessary. I have a little bit of all my role inside me and I’m more than happy to be tough and stumble into the penalty area for my crosses.

“I will do my best with a lot of hard work. Not everything will be easy and go in a positive direction every time, but you won’t see me walk away from any challenges and if it’s bad, I’ll just keep standing and come back next time.”

Arsenal’s shirt number for Aaron Ramsdale has been confirmed as he completes the ranks of Arsenal, the third candidate for a move to the second tier, with the odds dropping before facing Chelsea.
