“Oh, breaker!” Ben Shepard is frustrated when Tipping Point player throws 10,000 jackpots | TV and Radio | Showbiz and TV

At Friday’s Tipping Point replay, Ben Shephard was ready to ask budding detectives David, Liam, Carly and Sharon questions. However, with only room for one of the ITV racers to take a kick against the machine in hopes of getting some cash, each player will have to do their best to answer Ben’s mental questions quickly and correctly. David earned the accolade for outperforming his teammates in more than three rounds – despite running out of luck when facing the famous machine.

From the start, it became clear that David was the tipping point player that his opponents had to catch up with.

David and Carly ran out of the top nominees after the first round with £700 in their prize money, closely followed by £550 for Sharon.

Liam was the first player on ITV to pack his bags and in the second round, Sharon followed suit.

That left it up to David and Carly to battle it out for a chance to grab the Tipping Point machine in hopes of winning the elusive £10,000 jackpot.

And after biting nails head-on, David just skipped Carly to a spot in the final round.

David managed to collect £1,400 in his prize pool while Carly narrowly lost £1,300.

Now almost guaranteed to leave the show with some cash, Ben pitted David on the machine to see if it would be the five-figure jackpot.

And after he inserted the jackpot counter into the machine, everyone seemed to be walking David’s path as he got closer and closer to the edge of the bottom shelf.

However, with the jackpot counter on edge, David ran out of counters, leaving it up to Ben to give him the chance to trade in the £2,100 he had already earned for a chance to get rid of him with three final discs.

David played it safe instead, taking £2,100 and turning down the deal – although Ben couldn’t let him go home without knowing if he made the right call.

But unfortunately, after only two bonus counters, the jackpot fell off the shelf – meaning David lost his £10,000 jackpot.

“David, David, David!” Ben said in exasperation after witnessing the grand prix counter drop in the winning zone.

“I know,” David shrugged as Ben put a supportive arm around his shoulder and joked, “Drowner!”

David laughed before comforting the rider Ben: “You had a great day, you have £2,100 the amount that could have gone the other way, you just never know.”

Tipping Point’s player doesn’t seem too pessimistic despite his loss as Ben ended the offer by saying: “If he had been more brave, he would have left with £10,000.”

But while David and Ben tried to stay in high spirits, those watching at home couldn’t believe he had decided not to trade.

“#tippingpoint David.” “You Plonker,” one fan joked on Twitter, while another commented on Ben’s remarks: “This #tippingpoint isn’t cute Ben.”

A third added: “WHA!?!?! #Turning point. Trade that every time for me.”

Another agreed: “David take the trade! #tippingpoint nooooo.”

While this morning regular contributor India Willoughby did take part in the event, he tweeted: “Oh my god??? why not gamble??? #tipping point.”

Tipping Point broadcasts weekdays at 4pm on ITV.
