Dimitar Berbatov, the former Tottenham and Manchester United star, has predicted Arsenal will have a “terrible” start to the Premier League season ahead of Sunday’s clash with Chelsea in the Emirates.
The Bulgarian’s appreciation was already partially realized after newly promoted Brentford dominated Mikel Arteta’s side on the opening day of the campaign.
They lost 2-0 on that occasion, and didn’t seem to have any real offensive threat on the night, especially in the absence of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette who counted on them after contracting with Covid-19.
Arsenal captain Aubameyang is available for the London derby on Sunday, but Lacazette, another key goal contributor, remains in isolation, with his return date unknown.

Speaking to The Metro about Arsenal’s chances of beating Chelsea, Berbatov said: “What a match. I’m going out and saying I think Arsenal will have a terrible start to the season.”
Berbatov believes Thomas Tuchel’s men will end up winning 3-0 at the Emirates, and went on to warn Arteta that Romelu Lukaku could be the difference between the two teams on the day, and if Arsenal don’t solve their defensive weaknesses, they will be in real trouble come September.
“Lukaku could appear for the first time since joining Chelsea again, and I think he will be keen to show what he can do, and if Arsenal do not address their main defensive weakness, which they have had for so many years, they are easily intimidated and Lukaku will be rioted.”
The transfer window is in full swing and things are starting to pick up with Edu and Mikel Arteta’s dealings in the UAE.
