Jo Paul said her daughter made the right call after ending things with Jake Cornish on Love Island after the couple spent a few weeks on the hit dating show.

Jo said her daughter Liberty shares her belief that women should kiss the wrong man

Love Island contestant Liberty Ball said it was “heartbreaking” to see the way Jake Cornish treated her daughter on TV.

But after watching the way Libby handled their breakup and walked out of the villa just days before tomorrow night’s final, Joe, 49, said she’s so proud of her girl.

She also revealed that she was worried about Libby’s appearance on ITV’s reality show – and was happy to be reunited with her daughter.

Speaking from Mallorca, where this year’s series was filmed, Jo said, “It has been an emotional journey, and I’m thankful she is with me.”

Birmingham Las Liberty, 22, left Love Island Friday morning and set out with Jake — making them the first couple in the show’s history to leave the villa together.

The duo, dubbed “Jiberty” by fans, were the favorites because their relationship seemed so strong.

They were drawn to each other from the first day of the competition and became an item shortly thereafter. But their relationship faltered after 24-year-old Jake told Libby that the mess had given him “the filth.”

The producers also showed Libby a clip of Jake saying he didn’t fancy her enough to “rip her clothes.”

She later tells Jake that they weren’t right for each other because he didn’t like her for who she was. Mother Jo believes Liberty was right to cancel it.

She said, “I was really looking forward to meeting Jake.

“But from what I saw, Liberty made the absolutely right decision.”

Joe added, “I think Jake had a rough time and if Libby says he’s a nice person, then I have to stick with that.

“But it was heartbreaking because she was looking for love and he was.

“I wanted it to be true love—either passionate love or the kind where there is, ‘I care about you and I want to make you feel safe. “I haven’t seen that from him towards my daughter and she definitely deserves it and she made the right call.”

Despite their seven-week romance and four weeks as an official boyfriend and girlfriend, he hardly fought a battle to save the relationship.

Jake’s comments about Libby being a mess angered fans who have taken to social media to accuse him of “ignoring” – making profuse but negative comments to belittle and change a partner – but Libby has made it clear she won’t change for anyone.

She said: You want someone to accept you for you.

“I think the little things he was saying to me…the other little things started adding up. I think Jake is a real man.

Love Island’s Liberty says that “only Jake” knows if he’s playing a game inside the villa, convinced that Love Island fans have received information from the Liberty family about Jake’s split

“I hate to say he was emotionally abusive. We would go up and down. I don’t think a relationship should feel like that.”

Joe, a real estate developer, believes Libby shares her belief that a woman shouldn’t kiss the wrong man.

She said, “She has a lot of positive relationships to emulate in the family and knows her value.

“I was single for 10 years and focused on raising Libby. I hope to set a good example.”

She also told Jo how worried she was when Libby said she was going to Love Island.

The show was criticized after host Caroline Flack and contestants Sophie Gradon and Mike Thalassets committed suicide.

“I was very worried — but the support network was reassuring,” Joe said. “We saw a psychiatrist at least three times.

“I told Libby, ‘You don’t have to do this. It’s not important.’ But she said, “Mom, this is something I want to do.” She said, “My motivation is to be a good role model for young people” — and I think she did. Libby got everything she wanted apart from true love, but she wasn’t willing to compromise. I am so proud. “

Joe now hopes Libby will finish her degree but said she wants to “pack her bags and explore the world,” adding, “I’m proud of her for whatever she does.”
