The Taliban “goes from door to door” to search for Christians
The Taliban has spread across Afghanistan over the past month, capturing the capital, Kabul, on August 15. Although a general amnesty was granted to those who served the Afghan government, there are widespread reports of reprisals by Taliban fighters.
General Achakzai was the commander of Badghis Province, near the border with Turkmenistan.
The BBC’s Nasreen Noa republished a video clip showing him being blindfolded and handcuffed on the ground.
Two Taliban members had a brief discussion, after which General Achakzai was shot dead.
Thousands of Afghans disembarked at Kabul International Airport, still under the control of US and British forces, in search of a way out of the country.

Over the past two days, both the Taliban and Western forces have fired warning shots into the air, trying to keep the crowds away.
Several people reportedly died of gunshot wounds or were crushed to death.
Western powers are desperately trying to evacuate their own countries and Afghan allies, while that is still possible.
On Sunday, Secretary of the Armed Forces James Hebby claimed that the situation in the group had improved somewhat.

Speaking to the BBC, he said: “Today the waiting list is better flowing.”
Mr. Hebei claimed the Taliban were dividing Afghans into separate lines in the UK and US, speeding up the evacuation process.
Forsaken Fighters, an Australian group that supports Afghans who have served with Western forces, has warned “tens of thousands” of the risk of being exposed.
Speaking to The Sun Online, a spokesperson said: “Interpreters on the ground in Kandahar reported that the Taliban were actively looking for interpreters supporting coalition forces, even using local children to help frown at people and go door to door to find them.

President Joe Biden has ordered all US forces to leave Afghanistan by the 20th anniversary of 9/11.
With the withdrawal of US and NATO forces, the Taliban were able to make a series of astonishing advances.

In 2020, Donald Trump signed a deal with the Taliban, obligating the United States to withdraw all of its forces from the country.
In return, the Taliban pledged not to provide sanctuary to al-Qaeda, which used Afghanistan to plot the September 11 attacks on New York and Washington.
But there are already reports of foreign extremist groups fighting in Afghanistan with the Taliban.

There are reports that Taliban fighters are targeting families of Afghan translators, if they cannot find the intended target.
“They target the families of those who refuse to surrender, and they prosecute and punish their families ‘according to Islamic law’,” said Kristian Nellemann, executive director of the Norwegian Center for Global Analytics.
“We anticipate that both former NATO/US personnel and their allies, along with their family members, will be subjected to torture and execution.”
