“When you play with the number nine on your back, you usually have pressure to score goals,” Jesus admitted to the official Manchester City website.

“I try to score every time I step onto the pitch, but sometimes I can score with other things, with assists, by running and creating chances to help my team.

“I went out to the field to help my team and I am very happy because everyone in the team played well and we were able to win the first game in the league.

“I started playing football in the street, so I play everywhere in attack. I think now I can focus more on my game to help my team.”

Jesus then said he is ready to play anywhere across the front line and that his focus is only on winning matches at the club.

“I am getting my confidence and energy back. I love to play all the time, and wherever the manager tries to play with me, I will always try to do my best.

“For my national team now, I play more on the right side so I think I can play there.

“We have a lot of good strikers and wingers as well, Riyad and Rahim came in and scored, so we have a very good squad.

“Everyone who plays is trying their best to win matches.”

With the departure of Sergio Aguero, Jesus is the only recognized Manchester City striker.

A new striker is needed to get into the side. Whether this will be Harry Kane, only time will tell.
