If the resident’s alarms went off, they were asked to call 999.
The police posted on the Sefton Police Facebook page: “This is a crime alert for the residents of Melenge/Magul/Antre.
“During the night we received some reports of huts being broken into in the area where things were stolen.
“Victims of these crimes will be visited/contacted by the local police team offices today – Sunday 22 August.
“An investigation is underway.
“We urge you to adequately secure your barns and other outdoor facilities, and this includes getting an alarm, it doesn’t have to be expensive, just something to alert you to an intruder.

“Finally, if you become aware of any suspicious activities in your area, please contact.”
