Leeds ahead of Everton, West Ham for the famous teen star

Leeds United have taken the first steps towards signing young star Jack Patterson by offering an experience to a player who is also being tracked by West Ham and Everton.

The Northern Irish youth started wagging his tongue after becoming the youngest player in the history of the Crusaders. The feat arrived in January of this year when he came off the bench against Warrenpoint Town in the Danske Bank Premier League. Patterson was only 15 years and 78 days old at the time.

The midfielder is still only 15 years old and has recently joined the Club NI Elite Football Program. The scheme is part of the Irish Football Association’s attempt to channel the brightest young talents of their country towards professional football at an elite level.

Patterson also made rapid strides for the Crusaders. Brought in as part of their U16s group, it was quickly promoted to the U18s, U20s and now their first team.

Having helped grow his development, Stephen Baxter learns he has an exciting young talent.

“What a possibility it was,” Baxter said.

“We saw the talent that was recommended to us by the youth academy director and in the few matches he played with the U-20 team, he was fantastic.

“We got him into the first team and I thought he’s a great player for his age. He’s training with us and if he’s good enough, he’s old.

“He has the talent and will definitely be someone we will talk about in the future.”

Its development though did not go unnoticed. In January, it was reported that Everton were keen to get a closer look at him.

And over the weekend, the Belfast Telegraph reported that West Ham had called up Patterson again for a second try.

However, the Yorkshire Evening Post reports that on Monday Patterson will begin a trial with Leeds United.

And if he impresses him, Leeds will look to move quickly to tie the teenager to a deal.

Leeds has Patterson connections

Leeds Academy is one of the most respected in the country. In fact, the white team already has a strong relationship with Patterson, having signed with fellow NI club Charlie Allen from Linfield in July 2020.

Furthermore, one of the Leeds stars also started his own football journey in the Crusaders.

Stewart Dallas cut his teeth in the Northern Irish team game, where he played 67 times and scored eight goals between 2010-2012.

This led to Dallas moving to Brentford, before moving three years later to Leeds.

Dallas is a player capable of filling any Leeds position. Cookstown Cafu was named Leeds Player of the Year last season as he finished ninth in the Premier League.

Dallas also recently committed to a new deal with Leeds. Indeed, Marcelo Bielsa admits that the 30-year-old has exceeded his expectations at this level.
