Arsenal and Manchester United got their ‘hoax’ wrong by not signing Aston Villa striker Danny Ings, according to TalkSPORT’s Jimmy O’Hara and Alex Kroc.
The former Southampton striker was an upgrade for France striker Anthony Martial, Kroc says, while the former Tottenham midfielder is asking O’Hara why he didn’t pick France forward Anthony Martial.

Ings scored a stunning acrobatic goal for Villa last weekend and started his career in the middle of the country
Having joined Villa from Southampton for £30m earlier this month, the forward has done well and truly.
A consolation penalty against Watford in the club’s first game of the season kept him off the mark, and last weekend against Newcastle United he produced a potential goal for the season contender.
With two goals in as many matches, he is on his way to repaying the big number Villa paid for him.
However, for that price, he would certainly end up being a bargain, a signing that could have benefited Arsenal greatly.
“I’m just looking at Danny Ings and thinking why don’t Arsenal come to you?” O’Hara said.
Kroc also felt the same way Man United could have seen signing Ings.
The transfer expert told talkSPORT: “I’m going to flip that around and say did Manchester United miss a trick when it comes to Danny Ings? £30m, someone who has scored goals in the Premier League, scored an amazing goal for Aston Villa last night.
“Are you telling me Danny Ings is not a promotion for Antony Martial? And he wanted to go to Manchester City or Manchester United, that was his favorite destination.
“Yeah, I know he’s had injury issues, he’s probably coming to the end of his career but you don’t get much for £30m these days and it was easy to do.
“I just wonder if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s blind faith in Anthony Martial could be the reason for his decline this season.”

Martial was a disappointment against former Ings club Southampton last weekend and has not lived up to the heights since coming to the club several years ago.
Arsenal have yet to score this season, while Ings has scored twice.
Meanwhile, United have continued with Martial since signing him as a 19-year-old from Monaco for £36m.
On the other hand, Ings has proven to be a very consistent top scorer in his Premier League career so far as he scored 57 goals in 142 matches.
