A two-year-old girl has died after a caravan caught fire in a holiday park in Lincolnshire.
Police said the toddler’s mother and her three other children survived after escaping from the car at Sealands Caravan Park in Engoldmils, near Skegness.
De Jo Fortune, Lincolnshire Police’s chief investigative officer, said: “This is a devastating incident for all involved. We are in the early stages of our investigation and the circumstances that led to the fire are not yet clear.
“We will work closely with specialized teams to understand what happened.”
Police were called to report a fire at 10:30 p.m. Monday. The force said the rest of the family received medical care at the hospital and have since left the hospital.
About 50 people were moved from surrounding caravans to emergency accommodation at a nearby recreation center as firefighting crews responded to the blaze.
Investigators appealed to witnesses for any information or video footage to come forward as the investigation began on Tuesday.
Fortune said: “We would like to appeal to anyone who was there last night and has not yet spoken to the police to come forward, and for anyone with video footage, please share this with officers to add to our information on the incident.
“This is particularly horrific, as a family loses a child, and we are asking people to remember these victims and not share footage online.”
Members of the public with information are asked to contact Lincolnshire Police via 101, citing incident 469 of 23 August, or by emailing [email protected] with the above details.
