Darren Krueger has made many important journeys over the past 10 years.

“It changed my life, it completely changed my life,” Krueger said.

But he said the trip he’s on now is different.

“I want him to rip my heart out. I want my heart to break for them, and that’s why I’m leaving,” Krueger said.

It’s because of what he’s preparing to see. It’s heading right in the aftermath of a 7.2-magnitude earthquake in Haiti.

“There will be devastation and you will see, smell and hear things that can spoil you,” Krueger said.

He knows it because he’s been to Haiti for years.

He was trying to help the island still recovering from its last devastating earthquake in 2010.

“Although I have been doing this professionally for over a decade, this has not been easier,” Krueger said.

This time, he’s the first to go from his church group from Crossroads Church in Ohio.

He will be assisting volunteers from other groups already in Haiti, and he said about 300 other volunteers will be waiting for him for word to follow up.

“We’re trying to make sure we can get them there safely and we have work for them to do and we can make an impact. When all of these things come together, we’re going to signal the bat and start saying, ‘That’s what we need to do,'” said Krueger.

Then he said that their mission begins.

Krueger said his church has set aside $50,000 for supplies on another long way to help Haiti.

“Although the journey will be difficult, I know God has got something for me on the other end,” Krueger said.
