Leeds United are very close to a permanent deal for Manchester United winger Dan James for £25m plus additions.
Athletic reported on Sunday that his current club is ready to listen to James’ offers. A deal was moved quickly on Monday and Leeds are close to signing him before Tuesday’s deadline. James travels to Leeds tonight, with fees and deal approved, pending a medical examination.
Leeds previously came into the spotlight from signing James from Swansea in January 2019, when the player completed a medical, only for the deal to expire on the deadline. Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa is still believed to be a fan of the Welsh winger and would like his club to sign James before Tuesday night’s deadline.
James himself was determined to fight for his place at Old Trafford, and has started two of his first three Premier League games this season, including a 5-1 win over Leeds. However, in the 1-0 win over Wolverhampton, James struggled and was replaced by Anthony Martial after 52 minutes.
