Mission: Impossible 7’s studio is suing its insurance company for an alleged failure to pay COVID insurance funds.
Paramount filed a case against the federal insurance company in a California court.
Production of the latest installment of Mission: Impossible — starring Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt — has suffered from COVID complications.

Filming began in Venice, Italy, in February 2020, but was halted less than a month later due to the illness of a “covered” person.
Production was again delayed due to the global outbreak of the pandemic.
Filming was later moved to the UK, but was stopped and restarted several times.
The latest shutdown – the seventh – came in June after a member of staff or staff tested positive for the COVID virus.
According to the lawsuit — filed in federal court — the Federal Insurance Company refused to pay the disruption damages.
Documents filed in court accuse insurance companies of breach of contract, breach of implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing.

Paramount says the studio was covered for losses of more than $100m (£73m), but Federal Insurance argued, according to the lawsuit, that some of the alleged losses were only covered by $1m (£730,000).
Paramount claims that the insurer only paid a “small portion” of the losses, “preventing coverage for most of it,” and thus “violated the parties’ contract.”
The 22-page court filing said: “Federal conduct is despicable and has been in willful disregard for Paramount’s rights, and constitutes oppression, fraud and/or malice.”
Paramount is seeking unspecified damages as part of the lawsuit.
Other film and television productions have sued their insurance companies for failing to pay due to pandemic problems.
Ben Affleck’s Hypnotic movie and Apple TV + drama The Morning Show have also launched lawsuits.
