Potter speaks on his new arrival
Graham Potter has expressed his delight in dropping defender Marc Cucurella from Getafe.
The Brighton boss has been tracking the Spanish left-back all summer, and the Seagull triggered a full £15.4m buyout clause in his contract with Getafe.
The 23-year-old Cucurella is capable of playing at left back, left back and left midfield. He made his Spain debut in June against Lithuania.
Potter said: “We are really excited to finally welcome him here and are thrilled to start working with him.
“He received a fantastic education in Barcelona’s youth teams and he made a real impression in LaLiga and within the national setup.
“He is a versatile player, and he will add competition and options to the team.”
Brighton also finalized the signing of Abdullah Sima of Slavia Prague in a four-year deal.
The 20-year-old will join Championship side Stoke City on loan for this season, with the move subject to international clearance.
