ELKO, Nevada (AFP) – An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale struck Tuesday in a remote area of northeastern Nevada, with officials saying they had no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The USGS said the quake occurred around 10:20 a.m. 46 miles (75 kilometers) east of Elko, where the mayor’s office reporter said she had no calls or reports of an earthquake.

In Wales, about 13 miles (21 kilometers) north of the epicenter in Clover Valley, town employee Jessica Solis Morgan said she felt a “ratt and jolt” like a train passing on nearby tracks, then realized it wasn’t training.

Solis-Morgan remembers a magnitude 6 earthquake in February 2008 that damaged hundreds of buildings in Wales, including the historic El Rancho Hotel and Casino.

In Spring Creek, Homeowners Association President Jesse Bahr told the Elko Daily Free Press that she felt the association building shake.
