An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale struck 16 miles south of Wales, Nevada at 10:21 a.m. The quake was also felt by residents in northeastern Nevada.
On February 21, 2008, a 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck the wells, causing damage to nearly 700 buildings.
Wells are located 45 miles east of Elko along Interstate 80 and 60 miles west of the Nevada and Utah state line.
