Corona virus in numbers: the number of deaths in the UK rises by 207

Daily deaths from the Corona virus exceeded 200 for the first time in nearly six months.

The number of coronavirus cases in the UK rose today by 35,693 with 207 more deaths recorded in the past 24 hours.

It’s the highest death toll since March 9 when there were 231.

Last Wednesday, there were 35,847 more infections and 149 deaths in the 28 days of positive testing.

It’s a slight decrease in cases over the course of a week, but an increase in deaths of 39 percent.

The UK has seen at least 20,000 cases a day since the end of June.

In that period, infections peaked at 54,674 on July 17 – two days before England lifted restrictions.

However, the number of daily Covid-19 infections on Monday fell below 30,000 for the first time in nearly two weeks.

Yesterday, 32,181 new cases and 50 deaths were recorded.

Throughout March, when the UK was in lockdown, cases rarely reached more than 6,000, but daily death rates were similar to August although the past month often saw around 35,000 new cases a day.

The latest health ministry data showed that nearly 7,000 people were cured of the virus last week.

The NHS Trust in Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester had the highest number of coronavirus patients in England, while all 10 of the country’s worst-hit hospitals have seen a spike in cases since Freedom Day.

The vaccination program, however, is still a rumble.

The UK provided 19,643 first doses of the vaccine, and 66,648 second doses, as of Monday (30 August).

The number of fully vaccinated Britons is now 42,790,585, according to the latest figures.

Although infections did not rise as expected when lockdown restrictions were lifted last month, scientists continued to warn that the UK must prepare for a difficult autumn.

Officials said yesterday that ministers intend to roll out a boosting program this month.

Experts from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunization (JCVI) are preparing to make a final decision on the booster campaign, as NHS England prepares to start the campaign from 6 September.

It comes as the new Covid strain, which is already in the UK, has been classified as a variety of concern by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The latest government figures show there have been at least 48 confirmed cases of Mu, or the B.1.621 variant, which were first identified in Colombia earlier this year.

The World Health Organization said in its weekly bulletin that the strain had been detected in 39 countries so far.

The scientists said the variant has mutations, suggesting it could be more resistant to vaccines — as was the case with beta.

But this is not conclusive, and the researchers said more studies are needed to examine this further.

The new variant was first identified at the beginning of the year, and since then a large number of cases have been found in Colombia, where it now accounts for 39 percent of Covid cases.

The World Health Organization said the spread of the virus near Ecuador is 13 percent.
