Neville remains concerned, despite naming Manchester United’s best attack with Ronaldo

Gary Neville believes that Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood would be Cristiano Ronaldo’s best attacking partner at Manchester United.

After a successful summer transition period, the Red Devils now have several options up front. The arrival of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund seemed to be the only and only one in the lead, after a long and determined chase. However, in a surprising turnaround last Friday, United seized the opportunity to re-sign Ronaldo.

The 36-year-old signed a two-year contract, and as a result, United allowed Daniel James to sign for Leeds.

But in addition to Cavani, Greenwood, Ronaldo, Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, they are yet to seal their marks in the new season.

According to Neville, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should play with Greenwood and Cavani alongside Ronaldo.

“I don’t think United will have to adapt too much with his arrival,” the critic told Sky Sports News. “They have great attacking players, good creative players too, with Jadon Sancho on the wide, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood they should create a lot of chances for him.

“I love Edinson Cavani, so it comes down to whether they can play either – or, or can they play both?

“Everyone, including me, expects him to play as number nine but can he play only on the left of Cavani, with Greenwood or Sancho on the right? That would be a guarantee of goals.

“The performance so far, they have really struggled in two away games, but they have a number of players who can go in and win the match in an instant. His [Ronaldo’s] The willingness and willingness to score goals is better than anyone else.”

Greenwood has shown the best form of any United striker so far this season. He scored three goals in three Premier League matches.

But Martial and Cavani are still getting back in shape, while Sancho started his first match with Sunday’s win over Wolverhampton. Rashford was discharged injured after shoulder surgery.

Despite the possibility that the quartet will be up to speed, Neville doubts whether United have enough to win the title. In fact, Chelsea re-signed Romelu Lukaku and signed Saul Niguez, while Manchester City added Jack Grealish.

Neville doubts Ronaldo and guides Man United

“The big question is whether that is enough to win the title. I don’t quite feel like it, the Premier League is the strongest since the mid-2000s.”

“I think Manchester United is a great addition to their squad, United needed the heart of a striker, but in terms of his physical side, he’s almost 28, 29, 30 when you look at him.

“People will look at young Cristiano and think how he used to beat five or six players in wide areas, now he’s more efficient.

“If Cristiano Ronaldo had been around now eight years ago, he would still be classed as a world-class player. His movement in the penalty area, his ability to score goals, his composure in front of goal and seizing opportunities would still make him world-class – and far from the hills.”

Ronaldo broke the men’s international goal-scoring record, Wednesday evening, by scoring two goals in Portugal’s 2-1 World Cup qualifier victory over Ireland to reach 110 goals for his country.

Who won the transfer window? Aston Villa? Manchester United? Daniel Levy? …
