Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed that he will wear the number 7 shirt again for Manchester United.
Ronaldo shocked the world by returning to Old Trafford for a second spell with the club on the day of the transfer deadline, signing a two-year contract with a third option, 12 years after he initially left Real Madrid for £80m. Deal.
The Portuguese striker scored 118 goals in 292 matches for United during his first spell with the club, winning three Premier League titles, the Champions League Cup, the Champions League and the Golden Ball in six years.
But after very successful spells with Real Madrid and then with Juventus, Ronaldo returned to United to see his career back home.
Edinson Cavani was the shirt holder for the season, but United got a special Premier League exemption to turn them into 21st place after selling Daniel James to Leeds on deadline day, freeing up the number 7 for the returning champion.
Fans responded brilliantly to the news, many were delighted that the legend would once again replay the team number that has become synonymous with his incredible career.
Ronaldo is expected to make his club debut on September 11 against Newcastle United at Old Trafford.
He returned early from international service after receiving a yellow card, which means that he was suspended for Portugal’s match against Azerbaijan, and thus was released from the team.
