Because high cholesterol usually doesn’t cause any obvious symptoms — unless levels are very high — a blood test is needed to determine if you’re at risk for several health conditions. The NHS confirmed that a doctor may ask some people not to eat for up to 12 hours before a blood test. Alternatively, a finger prick test can be arranged so that cholesterol levels can be checked within a few minutes.
Another helpful way to help lower your cholesterol levels quickly is to get moving.
Dr. Sarah Semaan, another cardiologist, said exercise can “raise HDL [i.e. good cholesterol] and improve LDL[badcholesterol][أيالكولسترولالضار”[iebadcholesterol”
The more exercise you do per day, the faster your cholesterol levels will drop, thus improving your health.
The NHS recommends everyone get at least 150 minutes of exercise a week.
Anything that increases the heart rate, such as:
A quick walk, swimming, cycling, jogging, dancing, playing sports.
Another tip is to add spices to your food, especially black pepper, coriander and ginger.
Other spices recommended by WebMD to help lower cholesterol levels include:
Garlic, curcumin, ginger, cinnamon.
WebMD stated, “Research shows that eating half to one clove of garlic each day can lower cholesterol by up to nine percent.”
Cardiologist Dr. Steinbaum added that adding extra spices to your food is a great way to help reduce appetite.
By not eating a lot, and moving more, it is inevitable that some pounds will be shed, which is good news for your health.
The NHS has emphasized that losing weight is one of the main ways to improve your cholesterol levels.
All of these measures are ways to help lower blood cholesterol without the use of statins.
However, if long-term lifestyle modifications don’t work, medications may be needed.
