Cheryl paid tribute to former Girls Aloud bandmate Sarah Harding, who passed away Sunday after battling breast cancer.
The 38-year-old said on Instagram: “Although we knew this day would arrive, I was still somewhat baffled by the words our amazing, unique, crazy, weird, kind and kind-hearted girl left.
“As I try to make my way through these strange and unfamiliar waves of disbelief and ending I am facing, I wanted to offer my deepest condolences to all of my GA fans.
“We’ve been a big family for a long time and know a lot of you by name.
“I wanted to make sure you know just how much your love and continued support have affected Sarah during her most vulnerable times.
“She was so grateful and you really lifted her spirits when she needed you the most. I also know that many will be deeply affected by the circumstances of Sarah’s death…I am sending you all the love I love Sarah…Farewell.
“Sarah Nicole Harding will forever be in our hearts.”
Other former members of Girls Aloud – Kimberly Walsh, Nadine Coyle and Nicola Roberts – also paid tribute to Harding, whose mother confirmed her death on Sunday at the age of 39.
The band rose to fame after the 2002 release of ITV’s Popstars: The Rivals, which saw the formation of the supergroup.

When Harding revealed her diagnosis in August 2020, Cheryl posted a tweet containing the single-hearted emoji.
Earlier today, Walsh posted a picture of her and Harding on Instagram, with the caption: “Beautiful Sarah, this is so painful. To wake up and know you’re really gone is just unbearable.
“Hearing a contagious chuckle was one of my favorite things in the world.
“You’ve caught fire, loved, lived, and laughed so hard.
“Send love and strength to everyone who is grieving today. My heart is broken.”
The singer’s mother announced Harding’s death on Sunday morning.
In an Instagram message, the singer was said to have “passed away in peace” and that “she was a shining and shining star and I hope this one will remember her instead.”
Earlier this year, Harding revealed that Christmas 2020 was likely her last.
She first discovered cancer when she noticed a painful lump in her breast – but she put off going to the hospital because of the pandemic.
She said in her diary, “One day I woke up realizing I was in denial.
“Yes, there was a lockdown, yes, there was a pandemic, but it was like I was using that as an excuse not to face the fact that something was very wrong.
“I called and spoke to someone at the local hospital.

“A woman asked me exactly how many painkillers she took, and when I told her, she told me I needed to go to A&E.”
In the wake of Harding’s death, breast cancer charities shared signs of the disease to help people catch symptoms early.
