2nd group: Raducanu 6-2, 5-1 Rogers * (* denotes server)
So, Raducanu has a chance to win this in less than an hour. Remember, she was down 0-2 in the first set. She has the court wide open at 0-15 but can’t clear it with a forehand. Then Rogers’ best point of the match – a hidden ball loosened her lead 30-15. But, as is so often the case in this match, she can’t put in two good points in a row and we’re at 30-30. However, she won her first match in 12 attempts.

Second set: * Raducanu 6-2, 5-0 Rogers (* denotes the server)
Another series of bad shots from Rogers gives Raducano 40-0. A nice forehand from Rogers is very good for the Brit and we are at 40-15. But another Rogers foul meant Raducanu won 11 (11) games in a row. And it’s just one game of the quarter-finals.

Second set: Raducanu 6-2, 4-0 Rogers * (* denotes server)
The ESPN commentary team noted that Rogers had a tough doubles match yesterday, after her emotional and tough win over Ash Party on Saturday. The after-effects of these two contests may be felt now. Rogers’ 18th backhand error gives Raducanu a 0-30 lead. Then a double mistake causes the love to be broken. Good for the Briton but a shame on Rogers after her great performance over the weekend.

Second set: * Raducanu 6-2, 3-0 Rogers (* denotes the server)
While Raducanu was dynamic – when she needed to – Rogers seemed pretty flat. But it has something going on at 0-30. Good, wide serve makes it 15-30 and then Rogers misses the return 30-30. The ace gives a match point to Raducanu. Which you take after a tired forehand from Rogers.

2nd set: Raducanu 6-2, 2-0 Rogers * (* denotes the server)
The fans received some big cheers from their fans when she came up to serve her first in the second set. But errors persist and her non-enforced 21 error makes her 15-40. It’s an 18-year-old who looks veteran now. And she won a forehand in the first half – she’s now won seven games in a row.

2nd Group: * Raducanu 6-2, 1-0 Rogers (* indicates the server)
Raducanu was great in that first set – at least after recovering from the opening shake. But Rogers hasn’t played anywhere near the level I showed when I beat Ash Party in the third round. The American hit 18 unforced errors compared to nine for Radocano in the first set. It’s also worth noting that Rogers was a double breaker in the final set against Barty, so don’t count it. She makes it to 30-30 in the second opening set but her unforced 14th foul (Raducanu has one) gives her opponent the opportunity to solidify at 40-30. Which is what you do.

Emma Raducano wins the first set 6-2
Radocano looked very calm throughout today’s match. If there are any nerves, there are no visible signs. The only signs of any disorder appear when you are 15-40 years old with two set points and ask the referee to put pressure on the people navigating the crowd. She closed out the opening set with a massive forehand that Rogers couldn’t even get close to. Radocano was 0-2 behind and then lost six straight matches!

1st group: * Raducanu 5-2 Rogers (* denotes server)
The home crowd cheered as Radocano fired a weak shot into the net to give Rogers a 0-30 lead. But there are plenty of fans heading for Raducanu in the crowd and there is a lot of noise as the Brits pull it to 30-30 after another involuntary foul from Rogers. The ace – the second of the game – stamps it. Raducanu is far from winning the first set.

First set: Raducanu 4-2 Rogers * (* denotes server)
Rogers leads the non-forced error number from 12-7, which is a good reason for it being 0-30 falling fairly quickly. And soon that turns into 0-40. Raducanu tries to score a big winner with three break points to play with but her shot flies too far. I missed another big forehand and we’re at 30-40. But Rogers hits the next point and Radocano has the second half!

Raducanu obviously got a boost from that break in the last game and sailed off for an easy grip.

First set: Raducanu 2-2 Rogers * (* denotes server)
Sending Rogers looks good so far – the best part of her game. But she gave her opponent chances with some stray shots and was 30-40 after hitting the net. Raducano sniffed her chance on the second serve and it ran out – after a long forehand from Rogers gave her the break.

1st group: * Raducanu 1-2 Rogers (* denotes server)
Bad start for Raducanu after a return from Rogers slammed into the net and swooped in to give the American a 0-15 lead. She recovers but a double fault leads to 15-30 and then an extra forehand gives Rogers two break points. Raducau gives a shout of joy after saving both of them and continues to hold out. A good comeback from the Briton after the first set seemed to slip away.

First set: Raducanu 0-2 Rogers * (* denotes server)
Rogers’ first serve of the match is right in the middle which is very good for Radocano. But Raducano is making her way back into the game and has a chance of breaking at 30-40, which Rogers wins after another good serve puts the Briton on the defensive. Rogers continues to hold on.

Raducano won the lottery and will serve first. I thoroughly researched this match by going out for coffee early and can report that it’s a beautiful day in New York: one of the three days of the year where it’s not eerily hot or cold.
Rogers has 10 years on her opponent but matches the youngster for energy in the opener – and has a break point that Raducanu saved with a stinging forehand. Rogers returns with a beautiful angled forehand of its own for another break in the Devil, but this time an unintended foul keeps Radocano in the match. But some loose shots from the Briton gave the break to her opponent.

The winner of this 11th seeded match will face Belinda Bencic in the quarter-finals. She beat number 7 seed Iga Świątek earlier today, thanks in part to her epic first set tiebreak, which she won 14-12.
The players are now on the field and we will start the match in the next few minutes.

Much has been written about Raducanu and there is no doubt that this will continue in the near future (the New York Times led the match preview on Briton instead of American Rogers today) but Rogers is a very dangerous player. Although ranked in the 1940s, she has a good record at Grand Slams this year – she reached the fourth round in Melbourne, the third round at Wimbledon, and was in the quarter-finals here last year, losing to eventual champion, Naomi Osaka. . And she wasn’t too bad this year either: She beat world number one, Ash Barty in the last round. Here’s how I did it:
7.46 pm GMT 19:46
Alexander Zverev just beat Yannick Sinner in straight sets (although Sinner really should have won the third set tiebreak) so it’s Raducano against Rogers next on Arthur Ashe. Players should be on the field soon…
7.40 pm GMT 19:40
Tom will be here soon, meanwhile here’s Tomaini Karaiol on the teens’ rise to this year’s championship:
While Lily Annie Fernandez basked in the joy of her unlikely third-round comeback on Naomi Osaka earlier last week, she was asked on the court in her post-match interview at what point she really thought she could topple such a champ. Her response was immediate. “From the beginning,” Fernandez said. The crowd reacted with a sudden murmur. “Right before the match, I knew I could win.”
Against Osaka, Fernandes trailed 7-5, 6-5 as the third seed served to win straight sets. Two days later, Angelique Kerber led the contest and seemed to have the upper hand in a tight struggle. Both times Fernandez found herself on the edge of a cliff, she raised her level and got back on her feet for the win.
Her Sunday win over Kerber, who put in a fine performance, was even more impressive. Falling into a set and breaking, Fernandes snatched control of the match by demonstrating all the different qualities that define her game: her athleticism, her great head speed on the racket, her feel on the court and the return of serve that destroyed Kerber all along.
Not long after Fernandez reached the quarter-finals for the first time in a major tournament, Carlos Alcaraz of Spain followed. Alcaraz had already pulled off a stunning upset from third seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, by complementing his nuclear groundstrokes with precise shots and sportsmanship.
