ITV’s political editor took to Twitter to confirm his positive test result after he was forced to miss the Summit of the New Enlightenment. Mr Beeston said he tested positive despite receiving two doses of the vaccine.
He tweeted: “I was supposed to be on top of the new enlightenment in Bremar, but tested positive for COVID (yes I’m cracked).
“Highlights include the award of the Alexander Fleming Prize for a new thesis on improving public health.”
The 61-year-old journalist is not the first prominent name to contract the virus despite taking two doses of the vaccine.
In July, Health Minister Sajid Javid was forced to self-isolate after he tested positive.
He described his symptoms as mild at the time.
After posting a video on Twitter, Mr. Javid said: “Hi everyone! I just wanted to share with you all the information that has tested positive for Covid.
“I was a bit dizzy last night so I took a side flow test this morning and it turned out to be positive.
“I am now self-isolating at home with my family until I get my PCR results.”

Despite being double stabbed, the former newspaper editor previously revealed that he developed chest pain, fever and cold sweats.
He told the Mail on Sunday at the time: “This is definitely the most severe I’ve ever felt from any illness in my life.
“But, as I slowly walk out the other side, coughing and humming, I’m still here – unlike the many millions around the world who have lost their lives to COVID in this pandemic.”
Nearly 18 days after he contracted the virus, he tweeted that he still had “horrible fatigue and little taste/smell.”
He wrote: “Day 18 since my covid symptoms started and still have horrible tiredness and little taste/smell.
Anyone else who contracted the virus after a full vaccination had the same ‘journey’?
In its latest report, Public Health England said that of the 492,528 cases of delta variant recorded since February, about a quarter (113,823) were in those who were double stabbed.
About 44 percent of those cases (219,716) were in people who had not been vaccinated.
According to the latest government figures, 43.3 million people in the UK have received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
That’s nearly 80 percent of the adult population.
