Jordan Henderson enters Jude Bellingham amid Liverpool transfer rumors

Judd Bellingham showed his quality once again as he started his first game at Wembley for England against Andorra on Sunday.

Lined up with Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson in midfield, the 18-year-old has often been temporarily linked with the Reds.

However, after moving to Borussia Dortmund last summer, the former youngster from Birmingham City excelled in both the Bundesliga and the Champions League, leading Henderson to describe Bellingham as a “brilliant player”.

At the same age, Henderson was on loan at Coventry City from Sunderland and the 31-year-old’s tribute to the teenager is unlikely to dampen calls for his signature from within the Liverpool fan base.

“He was miles ahead of me when I was that age,” Henderson admitted.

“Even at such a young age, he shows great maturity both on and off the field. You can see how hungry he is to be an outstanding player and he has all the qualities to do so.

“I was trying to help as much as I could but honestly, he’s a great player who showed that in the big games for Dortmund. I see him go from strength to strength all the time.

“I don’t want to praise him too much and put too much pressure on him but he has a good head on his shoulders, I am told he has good people around him and a good family, and you can see that is an important part of him. I think he will be an outstanding player in the future.”

With England currently advancing in the World Cup qualifiers, the Reds midfielder was asked if Bellingham could play a major role in the tournament in around 18 months’ time.

Having made his debut in November, the Dortmund champions have made eight caps so far, but face competition to dislodge first-choice Declan Rice and Calvin Phillips from Henderson himself.

Although Bellingham has proven himself at the highest level. He put in great performances as the German team faced Manchester City in the Champions League and helped the Lions and Yellows win the German League last season.

Those traits seemed to have already revealed themselves to Henderson, who insisted Bellingham could be an important player for the Three Lions within a year.

“Even at such a young age, he seems ready to play in the big matches. I watch him in Dortmund and the way he is doing is fantastic.

“He has shown once again what he can achieve. After a year on the streak, he will only improve so that he can make a huge impact,” the Liverpool captain praised.

“But for me, I would tell him to keep doing what he’s doing. Keep working hard every day in training, and stay focused on what you want to achieve.

“Just keep your feet on the ground and focus on football. If he does that and keeps fit, he will be a standout player. He is already a great player but he will go from strength to strength the next day. [few] Years.”
