Remedy has announced a full remastered version of the classic Alan Wake, set to hit PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC (via the Epic Games Store) this fall. Perhaps most exciting is that he opens the door more than ever for Alan Wake 2 to get off the streak.
Following a leak last week, Remedy and publisher Epic announced that Alan Wake Remastered will come with both game expansions, allow 4K resolution, and include new commentary from Creative Director Sam Lake. An official release date hasn’t been announced, but previous retailer leaks pointed to October 5.
Lake himself wrote about the remastering machine on Alan Wake/Remedy fansite The Sudden Stop, beginning his post by writing “This is for you.” He emphasized that the game is nearing completion, and that it’s “the original experience I fell in love with all those years ago. We didn’t want to change that. But the visuals everywhere, including Alan Wake’s character model himself and the cinematic, have been updated and improved with a few choices of upgrades.” Next generation. “

The announcement of the remaster will undoubtedly see fans excited about the long-awaited sequel. When Remedy partnered with Epic Games, the developer was said to be working on two games from the franchise – one that was an “AAA multiplatform game” and the other a “small-scale project”. It’s very possible that Alan Wake Remastered will be the smaller project, making Alan Wake 2 more possible than ever.
Despite the first game’s problems – it was designed as an open world game but had to be radically changed due to production difficulties – Remedy has made no secret of its desire to return to the world of Alan Wake. He had started work on the sequel before, but couldn’t make it to the finish line. However, after incorporating Alan Wake into the world of Control, Remedy seems to have big plans for its interconnected world of games – and Alan Wake 2 very much feels he could be a part of that.
Alan Wake originally arrived in 2010, and told the story of an author who was searching for his missing wife, and slowly discovered that a horror story he had written was coming true around him. This remaster marks the first time that the cult classic has been released on PlayStation.
We gave the original release a 9/10 review, saying that it “did a great job of blending the elements of written action, television, and video games to create an experience full of horror, laughter, and excitement that’s just as fun to play as it is to watch.”
