After a retail leak this weekend, Remedy is now official: Alan Wake will return this fall in the form of Alan Wake Remastered, for PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.

It will be the first time Alan Wake will be available on PlayStation, something Remedy told Eurogamer in 2019 that is now free after restoring his franchise rights from Microsoft.

Alan Wake Remastered will include both the original DLC chapters, The Signal and The Writer, as well as new director Sam Lake commentary and 4K video clips.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about the return of Alan Wake (both game and character!). Last year, Remedy signed a new publishing partnership with Fortnite maker Epic Games to launch two games: a smaller project, and then the studio’s next big release.

It was said at the time that both projects fell within the same concession. Subsequent whispers suggested that the franchise was the current Alan Wake/Control Remedy-verse, whose narrative has been cleverly woven together into the AWE expansion centered on Alan Wake in Control. The biggest project was said to be Alan Wake’s long-awaited complete sequel. There is still no official word on that yet.

For now, the original Alan Wake is definitely back this year. If you haven’t played it yet, the atmospheric combination of flashlight and gun-focused combat can still get the heart pumping, even if you’re still not quite sure what the pulp plot is all about.
