Thick black clouds of smoke can be seen over Altrincham this morning.
‘Loud explosions’ were reported on social media, with images of a fire being shared.
It is understood as a fire that is dealt with in an industrial unit.
Several roads in the area including Craven Road and Barlow Road have been closed and bus diversions are in place.

Greater Manchester Police wrote on Twitter: “George Richards Way #Altrincham is closed due to an incident driven by the fire service at an industrial unit. Please stay away from the area as it is expected to be closed for some time.”
Greater Manchester Police and the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service have been contacted for comment.
