Kate Garaway has issued a heartfelt plea to her fans after her documentary Finding Derek was nominated for a National Television Award.
Earlier this year, Kate let the cameras document her story while her husband Covid struggled to force her family to adjust to a new lifestyle.
The documentary received acclaim from viewers and in August it was announced that Finding Derek had been shortlisted for the NTA.

Kate revealed that she initially felt “torn” by asking her followers to vote for her for the award.
But an encounter with a stranger leads to a change in Kate’s decision.
Kate said: “I was so upset about being asked to vote for our #FindingDerek documentary to nominate @officialntas tomorrow.
“I’m very proud of that, but I felt I shouldn’t have asked for more from you.
“I even wondered if I should go to such a glamorous event and take time away from the family who need me now more than ever.
“But a stranger changed my mind! She was walking past our house and yelling ‘I hope you win.'”
“I thanked her but said I don’t think we would benefit from so many good people in this category and I didn’t campaign for the vote like the others did. She looked terrified.
“But you should,” she said, “My sister died of Covid damage two weeks ago. The virus devastated her heart last summer. I watched your documentary and it gave her a lot of hope.”
“It broke my heart. So now I am asking you to please vote – not for me but to highlight the thousands who have lost their lives and livelihoods to the virus, and the thousands more devastated by that fight.”
“Also for the millions of other people facing terrible diagnoses of any disease, the agonizing wait for treatment with our NHS strains to acclimatize. It would be great if your vote means they feel less forgotten and helps me fight for them.”
