Troy Deeney made his Birmingham City debut, Scott Hogan got his blunders justified at Barnsley, Jeremy Bella opened his account for the season and the Tilton Road end reopened.
This was a fun night as St. Andrews saw it some time ago.
It was also a 2-0 victory that lifted the Blues to the playoffs in a league table of little value other than the fun factor. This does not mean that he will not stop vibrating enthusiastic tongues.
New player Deeney started the match off the bench – and his new teammates are no doubt aware of his reputation for scoring goals.
So Hogan would be happy to accept the first opportunity that came his way.
That was right after half an hour and it came as a result of a mistake in the derby.
Left back Lee Buchanan tried to pass the ball to Curtis Davies but he put the ball between the halfway and Kelly Ross.
The goalkeeper raced to block Lukas Gutkiewicz but was helpless when the striker’s cross was deflected by his partner.
Hogan was probably supposed to double the lead soon after when Ross missed his defender and only found the Blues man.
This time, with 35 yards between him and the empty net, the 29-year-old cracked.

The Blues didn’t create that much in the first half of the second period, but a single pass into the box was nodded by Mark Roberts or Gottkeewicz.
In fact, it was the Rams who looked the most dangerous, not least when the excellent Mateja Sarkic had to outsmart Tom Lawrence.
At that point, after bringing in Deeney, Bowyer chose to sacrifice a striker and replaced Hogan with Gary Gardner to fortify his midfield.
Soon, Bella was at the end of the sweeping counter and finished with nine minutes left.

players
Sarkik 8
He was calm and decisive with crosses entering his box and well swept through his defense in a commendable performance, including two saves from Lawrence. Really grows into the role.
Roberts 7.5
His 45th opening was assertive and the highlight was a 30-yard run to catch Lewis Sibley in the break. He did well after the break as well, especially as the Derby tried to push him out of position when they came in behind Colin.
Dean 8
He wasn’t entirely fussed with what the little Derby had ordered from the Blues early on. It became more evident after the break as the derby had a daring 20 minutes. Another audio show from the captain.

Pedersen 7
Sibley fell twice on his side but the Dane coped well in the opening period. He did whatever was asked of him everywhere.
Colin 7.5
He had very little defense in the first half, and instead was alive to chances of untangling Rams’ defense. He made some surprising spikes in the second half.
Woods 7.5
He seemed confident, made time for himself and corners for his colleagues. Already critical in midfield this blues.

Sunjic 7.5.0 Update
A lot of times he had to go and press high and then chase again if the derby played through. Ran himself is rough – even if he gets a “good reservation” to break a counterattack.
beautiful 8
Derby started attacking him but seemed to stop as his possession dried up. The Angolan found itself in some promising positions in the first half with mixed results. The period closed with a shoulder charge on Nathan Byrne. He was eager to move forward in the second period, which was embodied in his goal – but also attentive to his defensive duty.
Chung 8.5 *
His work rate for someone so talented is what stands out, and he’s so eager to please without the ball. When he got it, it didn’t quite come off in the opening 45 but it was a thorn in the Rams’ side and he became increasingly influential in the game – even as Derby took out the tough stuff. talent.
Hogan 7.5.1
There is no doubt that he will be very relieved to recover from Barnsley’s notifications of a fine finish in the first half. He worked hard until he walked out 15 minutes before leaving.
Jutkiewicz 7
Buchanan’s fault was captured in what was a strong first 45. He didn’t get much by serving in the box he counted on – but he won his battle with Davis and Jajelka.
