A swimmer who went missing off the coast of Kent died in Margate in the early hours of the morning.

The Royal National Lifeboat Foundation (RNLI) said the woman’s body was found three hours after she was reported missing at 3 a.m. on Saturday.

A mass search to find the swimmer including two RNLI lifeboats has been launched with support from the Coast Guard and local emergency services.

Search teams covered areas near Port Margate and Nayland Rock as well as east to allow the tides to drift.

The body of a woman was discovered after about three hours of searching by RNLI beach crew members.

The Southeast Coast Ambulance Service attended and announced the woman’s death at the scene. Then the search was cancelled.

The association said it offered “deep condolences” to the family and friends of the deceased woman.
