The family of a young boy who was brutally stabbed to death on his first day of college has praised the teen, calling him a “beautiful soul.”

Rhamero West, known to many as Mero, was found with multiple injuries on Norton Street in Old Trafford shortly before 6pm on Thursday.

He was taken to hospital but tragically died of his injuries shortly thereafter.

According to the boy’s family, Rhamero started a catering course in college on the day he was fatally attacked.

On Sunday, Ramiro’s family pleaded for justice for their “beautiful son, Miro,” describing it as “completely shocked” and devastated.

“Our son’s life was taken from him on Thursday, September 9, 2021, the day he began his first day of college to study restaurants,” they said in a statement.

“We are in complete shock and we want justice for our beautiful son Miro. His life was taken too early at the age of 16, turning 17 on September 20.

“We were all devastated and now with an empty hole in our hearts. Miru was a beautiful soul and was on good terms with everyone he met.

“We will miss him unfortunately, so much love my son, we will love you forever – Mom, Dad, Remy and we will never forget your nephew Kyros. We will make sure he never forgets you.

“Everyone in the family now wishes you were still here. Sleep little baby until we meet again. We love you forever.”

Prior to the knife attack, Ramiro is believed to have been with his friends in a blue BMW that was being chased by another vehicle.

During the high-speed pursuit, a pedestrian was hit by a car on Cross Street, although their injuries are not believed to be serious.

Then a BMW crashed into Upper Chorlton Road.

Rhamiro tried to flee the scene but was caught by two men and attacked him.

A police cordon has been put in place where Rhamero was found and in two other areas of the Moss Side where officers are trying to determine where the car chase began.

Investigators from Greater Manchester Police (GMP) are continuing their investigation into the incident and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

So far, no arrests have been made.

“A number of investigators are working to piece together the sequence of events and find those responsible.

“At this point, we understand that Rhamiro was attacked by two men and we are working hard to identify them but we are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

“Since the attack, we have already followed up a number of lines of investigation and are carefully examining CCTV and forensics.

“There will be people who know who was involved in this attack on a young teen and we will ask them to come forward – even the smallest bit of information may be vital to our investigation.

“A family lost their young son and they deserve an answer.”
