Police facilitate UK Insulate M25 protest

[ad_1]

Early on Wednesday morning as crowds of workers set out on their morning commute, a group of Insulate Britain protesters gathered on the side of the M25 slipway in Enfield, north London, intent on stopping traffic once again.

They were dressed in orange with backpacks and draped red and blue banners as they waited to fill the road again after staging a similar stunt earlier in the week.

At Interchange 25 where road work is still underway on the busy highway, a protester filmed a police officer pointing to the drivers in front of the orange traffic cones lining the road before walking into the middle of the lane.

The camera slid towards the ground as the group of protesters hurriedly moved past the metal barriers and entered the two-lane road. A siren can be heard when the crossing starts.

A witness told The Telegraph that climate activists would halt their career at just one point to allow an ambulance to pass for a brief period.

After the brief pause, the camera tilts again, revealing two lanes of rush hour traffic that now resemble a parking lot and a police officer standing in the middle of the road.

One group says, “Okay, until we take our time and decide what we’re going to do.”

The video, which was later posted online, ends there, but photos later taken by news photographers show the entire group with their banners sitting in the middle of the highway, facing cars and vans, now completely at their mercy.

On one occasion, angry motorists tried to drag protesters off the road.
