The child was injured while riding with members of the Bedale Hunt in Kirby Fleetham on Wednesday morning.
Yorkshire Air Ambulance attended the scene after emergency services were called, but the girl died in hospital in the early hours of Thursday.
Officials at Bedale Hunt said the members are “totally devastated but stick together” for the girl’s family.
A spokesperson for the stalking said in a statement: “We can confirm that a tragic incident occurred on Wednesday 15th September when a two-year-old girl fell off her foal and subsequently lost her life.
“As a society, we are all totally devastated but together we come together to support the family involved.
“Our sincere condolences to all those affected and urge that everyone respect the family’s privacy during this very sad time.”
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Police are compiling a report on behalf of the coroner following the tragic death of a two-year-old girl who was involved in a horseback riding accident on the grounds in Kirkby Fleetham, near Northallerton.
“It happened around 8 am on Wednesday and the girl died in hospital during the early hours of Thursday.
