A body has been found in the Wyoming area where the search for Gabe Pettito is underway, but an identity has not yet been confirmed.
Fox News Digital reports that a coroner has arrived in Bridger Teton National Forest and that the dogs involved in the search have left the area.
“I can confirm that the deputy coroner has been dispatched to the scene to retrieve a body found in the woods,” said Teton County Coroner Dr. Brent Blow, according to News.com.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the body is male or female or whether it is the 22-year-old woman, who disappeared late last month while traveling with her fiancé.
Police have not yet commented on the situation, while the FBI said they and law enforcement partners will provide an update on the investigation into Pettito’s disappearance at 4:00 p.m. MDT at the Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center in Grand Teton National Park.
Gabe Pettito has not been seen since August 24, when she walked out of a hotel room in Utah. She spoke to her mother the next day to tell her that she and fiancé Brian Laundry would continue their road trip together and that their next stop was Grand Teton National Park.
Since then there have been no confirmed sightings of Ms. Pettito. Her fiancé, Brian Laundry, who came home without her on September 1, has also gone missing. Much research is underway for it in the Carlton Preserve, Florida.
Gabe Pettito is one of three people who went missing near Grand Teton Park this summer. Sian McLaughlin, 27, was reported missing in June after he went hiking in the area, while Robert Lowery, 46, who is also still missing, was seen August 19 at the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort in Teton Village.
