A man has been arrested after four people were found dead in a home in Derbyshire.
Officers were called to an address at Chandos Crescent in Killamarsh, near Sheffield, at about 7.25am on Sunday.
The force said one man is in police custody and they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.
Close families of the victims have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
Detective Chief Inspector Rob Routledge, who is leading the investigation, said: “We would really like to hear from anyone who has seen or heard anything suspicious in the early hours of this morning, or has any information they believe could assist our inquiries.
However small you think this information is, please contact us.
“It is an understandably worrying time for the community, and we would like to thank them for their patience and understanding at this time.
“It was important for us to inform the close relatives of those involved before we could provide more details about the incident.
“Residents will continue to see a large police presence in the area and patrols will be conducted to ensure reassurance.
“If you have any concerns, please don’t hesitate to speak to them.”
North East Derbyshire MP Lee Rowley offered his condolences over the “appalling and extremely tragic” incident.
“Terrible and extremely tragic news from Killarsh this evening,” Rowley said on Twitter. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.”
