Magnitude 5.2 earthquake strikes Andaman and Nicobar Islands

A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck near Campbell Bay in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Friday night, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS).

The quake was felt at about 8:35 pm, at a depth of 63 km.

“A 5.2-magnitude earthquake, occurred on 09-24-2021, 20:34:27 Indian Time, Latitude: 9.22 and Long: 93.92, Depth: 63 km, Location: 246 km north of Campbell Bay, Andaman and Nicobar islands,” he said. NCS in a tweet.

Andaman and Nicobar Islands are prone to frequent earthquakes.

Earlier on September 22, an earthquake measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale hit the islands.
