A ‘Loving’ man was found dead in the alley on his birthday

The body of a man whose death is being treated as murder was discovered on his birthday.

James Richards, believed to be a father, was found by the family as “loving and generous”, in an alley in Kirkdale seven days earlier.

Three men and a woman were questioned on suspicion of killing him.

Mr. Richards was discovered on a private driveway between homes on Woodbine Street and Harebell Street on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 22.

This was also the date of his thirty-third birthday.

His death sparked tributes online and in the street near where he was found, where balloons and flower bouquets were left in his memory.

In an emotional statement released on Tuesday, his family said: “He ripped a huge hole in our family. One of our valuables was cut in his prime.

“Brave, loyal, loving and generous, James.

“For 33 years only he has lit up our lives and had our hearts in our mouths every once in a while, his loss shattered us all.

“Gently rest our beautiful, bold boy.”

The honor came after Merseyside police confirmed the arrest of a fourth suspect.

The 38-year-old, from Liverpool, was arrested on Monday and remained in custody on Tuesday.

Three other suspects, two men and a woman, have been released pending further police investigations.

Investigators believe Mr Richards was the subject of a targeted attack that may have occurred in a different place than the alley in which he was found, which may have occurred on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.

The results of the autopsy, which were conducted to determine the cause of Richards’ death, have not yet been made public.

The police continued to plead with her for information that could assist the investigation.
