Duffy floods Instagram account with ‘flashing thoughts’ after sharing a rape ordeal

Welsh singer Duffy – who in 2020 bravely revealed details of a horrific incident in which she was drugged, raped and kidnapped – filled her Instagram page with quotes.

Singer Duffy filled her Instagram timeline with quotes she called “flashing thoughts.”

The maker of Mercy, 37, touches on themes of love, history, acceptance, music and life in the nine uploads posted on Sunday night.

She captioned the first message with an explanation of her social media boom by writing: “Sharing fleeting thoughts. I can’t imagine this to be a permanent thing, something to communicate. Nervous. Doing it anyway. Duffy.”

The blonde also shared some text images in her stories and wrote “Finning thoughts…” to announce her posts to followers, in addition to updating her bio with the same message.

The nine new posts – white squares with black text – are the singer’s latest uploads – which were empty until she shared a photo of herself alongside a sunshine emoji on 9/11.

After years of staying out of the spotlight, Duffy has come forward to share the devastating story of what she has been through.

The Welsh singer bravely revealed the details of a horrific incident in which she was drugged, raped and kidnapped.

She opened up about how she was kidnapped after being drugged in a restaurant on her birthday.

In her own words, the singer recalled the heartbreaking ordeal she had endured for four weeks.

Duffy remembered being taken to a foreign country where the perpetrator raped her in a hotel room.

She said: “It was my birthday, I was drugged in a restaurant, then I was drugged for four weeks and I traveled to a foreign country.

“I don’t remember getting on the plane and turning around in the back of a traveling car. I was entered into a hotel room and the perpetrator came back and raped me.

“I remember the pain and tried to stay conscious in the room after this happened. I hung out with him for another day, he didn’t look at me, I had to walk behind him, I was fairly conscious and pulled out. He was dumped by him.”

The star said she was too scared to escape while in a foreign country if the perpetrator alerted the police and they tracked her down.

Duffy found the strength from within to survive the horrific ordeal.

She explained on duffywords.com: “I thought of escaping to the neighboring town or town, while he was sleeping, but I had no money and was afraid that he would call the police, for them to flee, and maybe track me down. As a missing person. I don’t know how I had the strength to withstand those days I felt like there was something that helped me survive.”

In the aftermath, Duffy admitted that she “got dizzy like a zombie” when she came home with the interpreter.

Then she was detained at her home.

It was the interpreter’s threats to kill her that gave her the courage to flee and find another place to live where he could not trace her.

She said, ‘Going back with him, I remained as calm and normal as anyone could be in a situation like this, and when I got home I sat in a daze, like a zombie. I knew my life was in imminent danger, he made disguised confessions of my desire to kill me, and with little force it was My instinct is to run and run and find a place to live that he can’t find.

“The perpetrator drugged me in my house within four weeks, I don’t know if he raped me there during that time, I just remember driving around in the car in the foreign country and the escape would happen to me while fleeing in days afterwards. The traumatic shock left Duffy suicidal and she praised her therapist for helping her.

It was on her pink therapist’s couch in her couch in her huge library that the singer was finally able to share her horrible story with someone else.

She added, “Without her, I would not have made it. I was at risk of suicide in the aftermath.”

For weeks after the attack, Duffy refused to meet any other people and wanted to stay alone.

The singer told her fans that she will throw her pajamas on the fire and cut all her hair off while isolating herself from the rest of the world.

“In the aftermath,” she said, “I’d see no one, body spirit, for weeks and weeks and weeks at a time, staying alone. I’d take off my pajamas and throw them into the fire and put on another set. My hair would get too knotted from not being brushed, as I was sad, I cut it off completely.”

In the years that followed, Duffy moved five times in three years to escape her rapist.

She said it was only in the fifth house that she finally felt safe.

It had an impact on her romances as Duffy said she was “loved bombarded” by people who wanted to date the singer on her album covers rather than the “painful” person she was during her recovery.
