British segregation activists block three main routes to London, including the Blackwall Tunnel

Insulate Britain closed three major routes to London today.

They include Hanger Lane, Arnos Grove, and Blackwall Tunnel. Activists also closed Wandsworth Bridge in south London.

The environmental organization said about 50 people took part in the demonstrations, which called on the government to improve the quality of homes to help tackle climate change and fuel poverty.

In the Blackwall Tunnel, a group of activists sat on the northbound A102 causing large queues during rush hour.

In a video released by LBC, a woman pleads with protesters to move – saying she needs to drive to see her sick mother in hospital.

She told them: “She’s in the ambulance, she’s going to the hospital in Canterbury… I need to go to the hospital, please let me cross. It’s not good… How can you be so selfish?”

As protesters gather at their positions on the road holding their banners, a man is seen at traffic lights trying to drive his truck around but ends up slowly driving towards an activist before having to turn back.

At Wandsworth Bridge, members of the public were frequently seen dragging protesters off the road so that motorists – including the ambulance crew – could continue their journeys.

The Metropolitan Police said at least 38 people were arrested for the road closures this morning.

It is the eleventh day of the work that the group has done in recent weeks. The group previously targeted the M25, M4, and Port of Dover.

The recent protests also come after the government issued a new injunction last week preventing protesters from Insulate Britain from blocking traffic and access to motorways and major A roads in and around London.

Anyone who violates the injunction faces imprisonment or an unlimited fine, and activists found in contempt of court may be forced to pay for their case.

Insulate Britain has pledged to continue its work until the government issues a “meaningful statement that it will isolate all 29 million leaking British homes by 2030”.
