A 40 GB “massive leak” of a series of barbaric clips including torture videos has surfaced, allegedly depicting widespread rape and brutal treatment of Russian prison inmates.
The material is part of a leak indicating the involvement of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, formerly headed by Vladimir Putin, and the prison authorities of the country’s FSIN.
The graphic images and video footage – which the mirror chose not to display due to their graphic nature – are described as a “conveyor belt of torture” in prisons where rapists are allegedly deployed to break up male inmates.
Russia Today said it has dismissed five senior prison officials and opened a series of criminal investigations into allegations of torture and sexual assault at a prison in the Saratov region.
The dismissals included the release of the director of the prison where the alleged violation occurred and the head of the regional prison service.

40 gigabytes of video material, documents and photos were smuggled out of Russia showing the orchestrated abuse, according to the anti-torture group Gulagu.Net.
One of the videos shows a naked man screaming in pain as he is chained to a bed and violated with a mop handle at a tuberculosis hospital in a prison in the city of Saratov in February 2020, allegedly.
Separately, prisoners who have been hacked by authorities are shown urinating on a fellow prisoner.
Male rape also emerges amid allegations that all civilized mores have collapsed in the Russian prison system.
The guards allegedly tortured prisoners who were then forced to torture other colleagues.
The horrific materials of rape, intimidation and violence have reportedly come from prisons in six Russian regions and will now be referred to the United Nations and the Council of Europe for investigation.

The material was leaked by a Belarusian programmer imprisoned in Saratov and used by authorities to compile a set of torture videos filmed on prison video cameras, the group says.
The programmer, now released and seeking political asylum in the West, allegedly copied and transferred the material from Russia.
Referring to Edward Snowden, a whistleblower for the US National Security Agency, who is now living in exile in Russia, Vladimir Usishkin, who runs Gulagu.Net, said: “We call him the Belarusian Snowden.”

This was “the first time that human rights defenders have obtained such a huge amount of information proving the systematic nature of torture in Russia”.
Usishkin says there is evidence that 200 inmates have been tortured and raped by FSB and FSIN agents in Russian prisons, with 40 inmates filmed in videos.
The IPS leadership has launched an investigation into the videos.

Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said: “If the authenticity of these materials is confirmed, this, of course, is a reason to conduct a serious investigation.
“But it is first necessary to quickly but calmly solve this problem and prove its authenticity.”
Late on Tuesday, Colonel Alexei Fedotov, 55, head of the Saratov service at the FSIN, resigned.
“Fedotov has drafted a letter of resignation. He is currently on leave and may not return to work,” a source told Interfax.
The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office launched an investigation.
But Usishkin, who is based in France, said: “The Russian authorities are hypocritical and do everything in their power to distance themselves from the torture conveyor belt (which) was created by the FSIN and FSB generals – and used to suppress the will of the convicts.”
He pledged to publish more material in the coming days.
He said the videos “prove” that FSB and FSIN agents use rape and other forms of torture to force inmates to cooperate and comply.
The Russian service at RFE/RL said that they “themselves became part of the torture machine” by informing other prisoners or by signing false testimonies prepared by interrogators.
