Adele opened up about her son, dating and working in an interview with Vogue – making history as the first person to appear on the UK and US cover with a different fashion photo session and interview in each.

The British singer, who is set to return to her music next week with a new single, Easy On Me, has spoken about her upcoming album – the first to be released since her 2015 album ’25’.

She told Vogue that it was created for her eight-year-old son Angelo, whom she shares with philanthropist Simon Konecki.

The couple split in April 2019, their divorce ended in March this year, and they share custody of Angelou.

“I felt like I wanted to explain to him, despite this record, when he’s in his twenties or thirties, who I am and why I voluntarily chose to break up his whole life in pursuit of my happiness,” she said.

“It made him really unhappy at times. It’s a real wound to me that I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to heal.”

All three of her studio albums to date are named after the notable eras she achieved during the creative process.

Last week, she shared a snippet of the new music in a video on Twitter after she impressed fans with the rebranding on social media.

Speaking about the end of her marriage, she said that “nothing bad happened” but that it “didn’t feel right” for her anymore and “I didn’t want to end up like so many other people I know.”

“It wasn’t miserable, but I would have been miserable had I not put myself first,” she said.

She added that there were people “everywhere trying to get stories and I just hated them”.

She said, “I was really embarrassed. This thing of not being able to do something, we trained as women to keep trying, even through the movies we saw when we were kids.”

“At the time, it broke my heart, but I actually find it very interesting now. How we’re being asked to get away with it.”

A post on Adele’s Instagram account featuring her Vogue cover has been liked more than 500,000 times in 10 minutes.

The British cover shows a close-up of the star wearing a yellow dress with a large silver brooch, while the American version shows her wearing a long green dress.

During the interview, Adele also discussed her post-breakup party in Los Angeles.

“I thought I was indifferent, but I think there was an element of carelessness,” she said.

“Then again, I have security guards coming out of my ass, so absolutely nothing came out.

“I would fall through the back door of the penis instead of from the front.”

The Grammy-winning actress also spoke about her dating back then, before she met her now partner, American sports agent Rich Paul.

The 39-year-old is the founder of the management company Klutch Sports Group, which represents high-profile basketball stars including LeBron James, Anthony Davis and John Wall.

She tells Fogg that those she’s dated before find it “stressful to go out with her or see her,” while Rich isn’t “at all confused.”

“It just feels consistent and considerate enough that I don’t care who knows,” she said.

“He’s cool. He’s so funny. He’s so smart, you know.”

Adele made headlines around the world for her weight loss, sharing photos on social media of her slimmer figure while living in the United States.

But, she told Vogue, her anxiety was what drove her to lose weight.

She said, “It was because of my anxiety. While I exercise, I will feel better.

“It was never about losing weight, it was always about getting strong and giving myself plenty of time every day without my phone.

“I became addicted to it. I exercise two or three times a day.”

She said she lost weight without dieting or fasting intermittently.
