Amanda Staveley will meet Steve Bruce and his players for the first time today, and it is increasingly unlikely that he will be in charge of Newcastle United’s first game under their new owners against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Staveley, the financier, headed the consortium backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund that bought the club for 305 million pounds from Mike Ashley on Thursday.
Club sources insist that no final decision has been made and that the new owners want to meet Bruce, his backstaff and players at the training ground. However, they are aware of the potential difficulty if he remains in the position as they are eager to usher in a new era revolving around the football genre.
