It appears that Snapchat has stopped working, preventing users from accessing the app or sending messages.
The website and app Down Detector logged tens of thousands of reports from Snapchat users on Wednesday.
Users have also complained via social media about issues with Snapchat.
“Is anyone else’s Snapchat half down or is it just mine, the main snapshots not sending but the ‘blue’ chat is?” One Twitter user wrote.
Another asked, “Does Snapchat not work for everyone or is it just me?”
The official Snapchat Support account posted on Twitter: “We’re aware that some Snapchat users are having issues using the app right now – hold on, we’re looking into it!”
The big outage comes just a week after Facebook experienced problems with all of its apps, including Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger. The total downtime lasted more than six hours, costing the company millions of dollars in revenue.
The Independent has reached out to Snap for comment.
