A teenager who was stabbed to death in a sports stadium in south London has been identified as the Afghan refugee Hazrat Wali.

Relatives said Wally, 18, who was attacked during a battle at Cranford Way, Twickenham, came to the UK two years ago for a better life.

A relative who lives in Stanmore told The Standard: “His Majesty was a very good boy. He came here to study, he lived alone in London. His immediate family is all in Afghanistan.

I saw him in the hospital. All I heard was he had a fight.”

His close friend Sohail Kojai said, “He was a very kind person. Very caring and loved everyone.

He did not hold any hatred towards anyone. He used to stand up for everyone. I wish I knew why someone would hurt him. He wasn’t that kind of guy who would fight.”

He was stabbed to death on a sports field in front of schoolchildren whose teacher ran to give CPR in a desperate attempt to try to save his life.

The 18-year-old was attacked during a fight on a footbridge before crashing and collapsing on the fields in Cranford Way, Twickenham, at 4.45pm on Tuesday.

The teacher from Richmond upon Thames School shielded his eighth-grade pupils, ages 12 and 13, who were playing rugby, before tending to the victim. It was said that the disciples were shedding tears as they watched the horror.

The 18-year-old is the 25th victim of the teenage murder in 2021 in London, with the city on track for its worst year ever for such deaths.

Police and paramedics attended the scene yards from neighboring Richmond upon Thames College and close to The Stop – the home of the Harlequins rugby team.

Investigators called on people who filmed the attack not to post it on social media.

One woman said that her 13-year-old son saw the victim fall to the ground.

“The victim and the suspects had been arguing for some time. The teacher realized what was happening and kept the young children away.”

“The old people continued to walk to the footbridge where the quarrel continued. The teacher went, the boys got scared and the poor boy fell to the ground. He was the first to realize that he had been stabbed.

“The teacher did a great job.

My son is now petrified of knives, but he is flat-headed and in good health. He said he was too far away but saw the boy collapse.”

A witness said, “There was a teacher in a rugby bag, he was trying to save the boy. He was giving CPR. There were two girls next to him, they were crying. He was a real hero, it was a horrible sight.”

“Five minutes before the accident came a group of very annoying kids who were heading to the field. Next thing we knew all hell was set free.”

Another resident said that the teacher “was fighting hard to save the boy.”

The victim was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead an hour later. Scotland Yard said his family was receiving support from specialist officers.

The stadium is now a crime scene, with two police tents, and collars. There were no arrests.

The murder took place in Richmond, one of the safest neighborhoods in London.

The Richmond-upon-Thames school said the principal was writing to parents today to express “how shocked we are to hear of such a stupid death.”

“While the teenager did not attend Richmond upon Thames School, the loss of any young life is a tragedy that affects us all,” she said in a statement.

“Knife crime is a widespread problem in London and the principal would like to stress how important it is for parents to talk to their children about the dangers of carrying any kind of weapon.”

Richmond upon Thames College said on Wednesday its principal and senior staff were cooperating fully with police over the “unfortunate death of a young man.”

The Met launched 107 murder investigations in 2021, including 25 involving teenage victims.

If the current rate continues, this year’s death toll will exceed 30 young people for the first time, overtaking a peak of 29 in 2008, as well as 26 in 2019.

Detective Chief Inspector Vicki Tunstall, who is leading the investigation into the murder, said: “The accident occurred on a playground and was witnessed by a number of people.

It is believed that some of these people filmed the events as they unfolded. I request that no videos be shared on social media to avoid further distress for the young man’s family. Instead, please go to the police immediately.”

Anyone with information or footage is asked to contact the police at 101, citing 5697/12OCT, or Crimestoppers Anonymous at 0800555111.
