Where does Tyson Fury’s win leave the world heavyweight scene?

Outspoken UFC commentator Joe Rogan claimed that the outcome of Tyson Fury’s massive three-way fight against Deontay Wilder was affected by a “mistake or corruption”.

Gypsy King claimed victory after knocking out his American opponent in the 11th round of the Las Vegas mega match.

But that wasn’t far from the whole story, as that final boom came at the end of an action packed thriller that would go on to become one of the best heavyweight fights in history.

Wilder fell three times in the match, while Fury hit himself on the canvas twice in the fourth round – and one of those moments sparked some controversy.

Some fans claimed the Briton was given a slow count by referee Russell Moura, before Fury got back on his feet and continued the fight.

Footage has since surfaced showing that the reason for the slower-than-usual count was because Maura paused to tell Wilder he needed to get back to the neutral corner while the count was in progress.

But that didn’t stop commentator Rogan from claiming that something more sinister might be involved.

“That’s what happened. The referee is supposed to go ‘one two…’ when the guy goes down. But if for any reason he has to interrupt the count… you’re supposed to pick up the count where he’s at the ring counter,” he said in one of the episodes. The Joe Rogan Experience Program.

“So there’s a guy who counts first in the ring, and he’s going to keep counting. So if you’re in ‘one, two,’ and then you’re like ‘Go to a neutral corner,’ that guy is supposed to be like ‘Three, four, five,’ but he he did not do.

Deontay Wilder ‘wants a fourth Tyson Fury fight’ but US manager warns Tyson Fury he wants to ‘sign his career’ by ousting Anthony Joshua, says Ricky Hutton

“He’s back to it, ‘Three, four,’ but the man had already fallen for a few seconds. Without a doubt it was a long number. I think it was a mistake, or a corruption. Most likely a mistake, most likely the guy panicked.”

Rogan isn’t the only big name in the UFC world to criticize the referee’s call, with former heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier also bemoaning the “crazy slow” count.

Despite his feelings for that moment, Rogan couldn’t help but gush over the amazing action on display during the fight.

“It was so crazy, it was so action-packed,” he said. “I mean, it was cool.” “From Tyson Fury hitting Wilder early, to Wilder looking like he’s done.

“There may be one or two other people who have ever lived and can hit just as hard. [Wilder]. It is without a doubt one of the toughest punches of all time. He’s a killer boxer, but the skill level was very clear.

“The difference is that Tyson Fury is a masterful boxer, he is masterful. He was great, his strategy was amazing.

“Just stay glued to Deontay, wear him, hang on to him, make him work, and drag him deeper and deeper into these awful crocodile-infested waters.

“That’s what he did, and he almost got fired. That’s how dangerous Wilder is.”
